Sat. Feb 27 - NEW RIVER GORGE- Strenuous-  6.5 mile hike beginning at the Kaymoor Miners Trail which is very steep down to the Kaymoor Trail then downriver to the Craigs Branch Trail. Then connect up with the ArrowHead Trails back to the Kaymoor top. Contact leader for details.

Sat. March 5 - BLUESTONE STATE PARK - Easy-  5 -6 mile hike along the Bluestone River. We will start at the parks campground/ swimming pool area and hike upriver. Pipestem State Park is having an eagle survey from 10 - 2 and we will participate and look for eagles along the river. You can hike with us or register with Pipestem to participate. There will be a meeting following in Hinton for the results of the survey. In Janurary there were 33 bald eagles and 4 golden eagles observed.

Sat. March 19 - PEN MAR PARK, PA - Strenuous- This is a 7 mile hike along the AT in PA. We will start at PEN Mar Park which has beautiful views of the valley below and hike to Old Forge picnic artea. Please register before March 15th so we can arrange shuttles. Allow 3-4 hours for hike and shuttle. Contact leader for details.

Sat. March 19 - VALLEY FALLS - Strenuous- We will do a 7 mile loop hike through the park and stop to see the waterfalls along the way. Bring a snack/water: trekking poles can be helpful as sections of the hike are steep and rocky. dress for the weather and be sure to have sturdy footwear. This hike is not recommended for beginners. Sat. April 2 - SNAKE HILL WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA - Moderate - This is a 6 -7 mile loop hike with elevation changes that connect with several scenic views that includes Table Rock, Cheat View, and several lesser known views along Snake Hill's canyon rim. Trail conditions vary from poorly established with vegetation overgrowth, rocky underfooting and blowdowns, to clearly established paths and gas well roads. Aquired in 1996 by the State of WV, the SHWMA is across the Cheat River Gorge from Coopers Rock State Forest. Contact leader for details.

Sun. April 3 -  NEW RIVER GORGE - Moderate -  7 mile hike along the New River on the South side Trail. Beautiful views of the river and gorge. We will start at Cunard and hike upriver to Thurmond. We will shuttle between Thurmond and Cunard.  Contact leader for details.

Sat. April 9 - GREENBRIER STATE PARK, PA - Moderate - this 6 mile hike will begin at the AT trailhead on Rt. 40. We will then head south on the AT and pick up the Batraan Hill Trail to Greenbrier State Park. We will then loop around the lake stopping for lunch at the picnic area by the lake. Sun.  April 23 - ADOPT- A -TRAIL SPRING CLEAN-UP AT COOPERS ROCK -  The WVSC will be leading a spring clean-up on the Intermediate Cross Country Ski Trail at Coopers Rock State Forest. Volunteers seeking community sevice are encouraged to participate. Moderate intensity work cleaning up the trail. Bring gloves, sturdy boots and lunch/water. Volunteers will be required to sign a Sierra Club liablity wavier and a DNR Volunteer Work Program Agreement. For details contact leader.

Sat. April 30 - GEORGE WASHINGTON NATIONAL FOREST- Strenuous- This is a 10 mile hike which begins at the Wolf Gap Campground in VA. and will conclude at the Half Moon trailhead on Trout Run RD. in Wardensville, WV. We will hike to the top of Big Schloss. Please register by April 26th in order to arrange shuttles. Pack a lunch and plenty of water. Allow 4 1/2 hours for the hike and shuttles. For details contact leader.
