The Forest Service will be holding a series of open houses to take comments on the Draft Monongahela National Forest Plan in communities statewide
These "open house" hearings, which are scheduled throughout the month of September, will be a critical part of our efforts to show the Forest Service and our lawmakers that the people of West Virginia want to see the Mon protected.
We want to have a big presence at every meeting and will be organizing conservation events to coincide with the open houses. Please tell a friend, bring a family member and help us pack the rooms with Wilderness supporters and people who want to see the Mon remain just like it is open and free. The open houses are scheduled for:
Saturday, September 17th 10 am 2pm, Graceland, Davis& Elkins College, Elkins
Monday, September 19th 4 pm 7 pm, Richwood City Hall, Richwood
Tuesday, September 20th 4 pm 7 pm, Pocahontas County High School, Marlington
Wednesday, September 21st 4 pm 7 pm, Marriot (Town Center), Charleston
Monday, September 26th 4 pm 7 pm, Public Library, Petersburg
The Sierra Club along with other members of the West Virginia Wilderness Coalition will be holding our own Wild Mon Rallies in Morgantown and elsewhere. Stay tuned for more details.
Please take the time to comment on the draft plan and if possible please attend at least one of the scheduled events. We need to show the Forest Service just how many people care about the Mon. For more information on these events or others please contact:
