Sierra Club accepts comments on Interim Energy Policy

By the time you receive this newsletter, we will be half way
through the Club's comment period. The Chapter Executive Committee and the Mon Group Executive Committee have submitted comments already, but this comment period is also open to all members. So please read on and submit your individual comments.
The Clubs Global Warming and Energy Task Force (GWE-TF) has developed an draft Energy Policy for the Sierra Club. The Board of Directors has established a 60-day comment period for this interim policy per the timeline listed below:
June 1 - Interim policy is posted for 60-day comment period. Listserv and comment board set up. Set up formal consultation with Sierra Club Canada.
June 12 and 13 -- Conference calls for leaders were scheduled for Monday 6/12 AND Tuesday 6/13at 5:30pmPT/8:30pmET
July 31 - End of comment period.
August 1 - Staff and GWE committee summarize results and recommendations for the Board and CGC.
August 10 - CGC begins its 10 day review period.
August 20 - CGC concludes its review and makes recommendation to Board.
Final Adoption: The Board expects to adopt a final policy no later than September 16, 2006.

This is an important dialogue for the Club to undertake. You are also encouraged to undertake action through the Clubs Cool Cities program (www.sierraclub.org/coolcities) in your Chapters region.
