WV E-Council sets 2007 legislative priorities at September concave near Morgantown

The annual WVEC Convention was held at Chestnut Ridge Park, Sept. 29-30 to set our annual legislative priorities. Renewable energy legislation tops the list, with a preliminary focus on energy efficiency and renewable transportation fuels.

Other legislative priorities will include a sludge safety bill to restrict coal slurry impoundments use din mountaintop removal, water quality rules, election reform, and a health impact assessment requirement for environmental rule making.

The Sierra Club will also continue to pursue a Bottle Bill, and will support Wilderness designation in the Monongahela National Forest. Now is a good time to contact your state legislators and make sure they know about our support for these issues.
