West Virginia Chapter holds Outings Leadership Training with First Aid

Chapter and WV Wilderness Coalition sponsor First Aid and Outings Leadership Training at the Annual Wilderness Workshop
The West Virginia Sierra Club Chapter held a weekend training offering both OLT 101 and certified First Aid class over the two day weekend of June 29th to July 1. The training was held at The Mountain Institute facility located in the Spruce Knob Recreation Area.
Ten potential leaders participated in the training that started Saturday with First Aid training by Janet Ghigo, certified first aid trainer and continued on Sunday when OLT 101 was offered by Dan Soeder, Outing Chair of the Sierra Club, Maryland Chapter.
The weekend of training was cosponsored by The West Virginia Sierra Club and The West Virginia Wilderness Coalition. Along with the Sierra Club training the coalition activities included in-depth grass work activist training and concluded with a keynote speech by Ed Zahniser, the son of the famous wilderness activist Howard Zahniser.
Participating in the training were; Mike and Tina Price, Walt Shupe, Donna LeMaster, Ann Devine-King, Karen Grubb, Gina Griffith, Janice Williams, Jeremy Martin, Paul Wilson and Bob Handley.
A great time was had by everyone who now has the tools to lead outings in the Wild and Wonderful state of West Virginia.
