I am saddened to learn that Powellton Coal Company has a permit to do mountaintop removal in an area that will be visible from the Ansted area and the New River Gorge. This is an area I have visited often and loved since I was a child. Can someone tell me why—after all the dollars of taxpayer money we’ve invested in tourism—why, oh why are we destroying the places we and the tourists love?
